RE: Request for information – 3-year mandate for audit services

Cheer Canada would like to invite your firm to propose on a three-year contract to provide the following services on a continuous and, where appropriate, annual basis:

  • Annual financial statement audit services
  • NPO information return filings
  • GST filings
  • Ad hoc accounting advisory services

Background of Cheer Canada: Cheer Canada is the National Sport Organization (NSO) for cheerleading in Canada. The inaugural board and format of Cheer Canada was formally ratified in October 2017, and we have audited financial statements for FY years ending  2016-2020. Our original FY year end was March 31; however, it has been changed to June 30 as of June 30, 2020.  Our leadership team is composed of the Board of Directors and Executive Director who determine the direction and support the work of the 22 Committees. We are a member in good standing of the International Cheer Union, and our members are the Provincial and Territorial Sport Organizations (PSO/PTSO) for Cheerleading. Across Canada, we have approximately 30,000 registered participants including athletes, coaches, and officials. Our organization (board and committees) is largely composed of volunteers. For more information on the current operations and strategic plans for Cheer Canada, please visit our website www.cheercanada.ca.

We will be hosting a virtual Orientation Meeting during the week of May 10, 2021, to share pertinent details on the financial and operational aspects of Cheer Canada, to discuss our anticipated needs, and to answer any questions you may have in order to prepare your proposal.

The deadline for proposals is May 31st, 2021, at 5pm EST.   Oral presentations will be arranged for the week of June 14, 2021.

In addition to competitive fees, the evaluation criteria for the proposal will be as follows:

  • Firm’s history and depth of expertise in advising parties similar to Cheer Canada
  • Quality of existing client references in terms of overall service rating for services related to  current and expected needs of Cheer Canada
  • Proposed Team and oral presentation

If you have any questions about this request for information, please reach out to Joanna Low, Executive Director of Cheer Canada at ExecutiveDirector@CheerCanada.ca.

Please confirm your interest, including the contact information of an individual to coordinate attendance for the Orientation Meeting by April 30, 2021. Please note that the individuals who attend the Orientation Meeting should be part of the eventual engagement team.
