Position Title: National Team Coordinator
Reports To: Cheer Canada Executive Director
Position Type: Part-Time, Remote with a requirement to travel domestically and internationally
Purpose
The Senior National Team Coordinator is a part-time, remote position focused on overseeing Cheer Canada’s National Team program and related events. This role involves managing logistics for team camps, clinics, and World Championships while providing support to athletes, coaches, staff, and external partners. The Coordinator has the authority to make daily operational decisions related to the program, within budgetary and policy guidelines set by Cheer Canada, and works closely with the Executive Director for strategic decisions and approvals. With a strong attention to detail, the Coordinator ensures smooth operations and efficient resource management for successful program execution.
The role involves contributing to the management of international opportunities teams as required. Reporting directly to the Cheer Canada Executive Director, the Coordinator provides a supporting role in the development of the program.
Key Responsibilities
Program Coordination & Administration
- Serve as the primary administrative point of contact for Senior National Team programs, providing information, resources, and support to athletes, coaches, and staff.
- Create and distribute promotional materials to publicize team activities, events, and initiatives.
- Monitor and evaluate program performance, providing regular reports on key areas of responsibility.
- Maintain and update program documents, including the Senior National Team program plans, athlete selection camps, and other related materials.
- Ensure the Cheer Canada website, social media, and database feature accurate and up to date information regarding the Senior National Team.
- Oversee compliance with Canadian Centre for Ethics in Sport (CCES) and World Anti-Doping Agency (WADA) regulations for all team members.
- Conduct post-event surveys to gather feedback from athletes and support staff, identifying strengths and areas for improvement.
Event & Logistics Coordination
- Manage the logistical arrangements for team training and competitions, including travel, accommodation, and venue coordination.
- Coordinate all team selection camps, handling program planning, athlete communications, and logistical details (meals, travel, accommodation).
- Ensure the timely completion of all registration forms, fees, and documentation for competitions.
- Communicate with the International Cheer Union and other stakeholders to ensure event readiness.
Athlete Support & Team Operations
- Communicate regularly with athletes, coaches, and support staff regarding training schedules, competition details, and team activities.
- Assist with transportation and accommodation arrangements as needed for athletes, medical staff, and support staff.
- Maintain and update athlete profiles and media guide information.
- Ensure athletes receive required training and competition clothing/equipment and track inventory.
Budget & Finance
- Collaborate with the Executive Director and Treasurer to manage program budgets, including revenue and expense allocations.
- Assist with budget preparation and reporting for team competitions and events, including grant writing and reporting as required.
- Track and document all financial transactions related to team programs.
- Support revenue-generating efforts, including fundraising and sponsorship activities.
Public Relations & Promotion
- Support Cheer Canada’s promotional efforts for the Senior National Team through website and social media updates.
- Assist with public relations activities, promoting team programs, and engaging with Cheer Canada’s stakeholders and partners.
Additional Responsibilities
- Manage conflict resolution between athletes, coaches, or other team members, to maintain a positive and collaborative team environment.
- Ensure safety and compliance with all training and event activities, adhering to safety regulations and risk management protocols.
- Promote diversity and inclusion by working with coaches and team leaders to create an environment of equitable opportunity for all athletes and staff.
- Ensure accessibility at training and competition venues, coordinating necessary accommodations for athletes and staff with disabilities.

Qualifications
- Experience: Minimum of 3 years prior experience in sports administration or event management, preferably in cheerleading or similar sports. Experience as an administrator at the ICU World Championships would be an asset.
- Skills: Strong organizational, communication, and project management skills.
- Knowledge: Familiarity with Cheer Canada policies, event coordination, and athlete support services.
- Technical Proficiency: Comfortable using digital platforms for communication, scheduling, and database management (e.g., social media, website management, Office Suite).
- Education: Bachelor’s degree. Within a relevant field (e.g., Sport Management, Administration) would be an asset.
- Required Certifications: Valid Drivers License. Current Criminal Background Check.
- Certifications: Have or be willing to obtain First Aid & CPR and NCCP Safe Sport.
- Languages: Fluency in both official languages would be an asset.
Terms:
- This position is a 2 year contract.
- This position is required to attend up to four training camps a year and the World Championship. Training camps are three to four days held within Canada. The World Championship requires 1 week of work in Florida for camp and the competition.
- Outside the training camps and competition, the role will be required to work up to 10 hours per week with it ramping up to more hours between January and May.
- Hours are flexible and meetings or other responsibilities may not fall within a typical 9am-5pm work week; however, a set schedule should be maintained where mutually beneficial.
- The National Team Coordinator will contribute thoughts and ideas at meetings but will not have a vote.
Compensation:
- $11,000.00 honorarium as well as travel, accommodation, and incidental expenses to attend the required training camps and International Cheerleading Union World Cheerleading Championships in Orlando, Florida. Approved expenses will be covered by Cheer Canada and will be disbursed following receipt of the Cheer Canada expense form, complete with scanned copies of the applicable receipts.
