About Cheer Canada Cheerleading Canada Inc. (CC or Cheer Canada) is a not for profit association established as the National Sports Organization for Cheerleading in Canada to manage, direct, promote and assist the activities of all cheerleading in Canada. NOTE: The majority of meetings and business activities will be conducted in English; hence, a strong command of English writing and speaking is required.

Overall Position Summary and Expectations The successful candidate must be proactive and self-directed in work towards CC’s strategic goals. Fostering a culture of excellence and teamwork among board members, staff, volunteers, and Provincial Sports Organizations is key. Financial stewardship is paramount, requiring development and budget management effectively while assisting with finding funding sources to ensure sustainability. The role also encompasses advocacy, representing the organization’s interests to government bodies (both domestically and internationally), sponsors, and the public while maintaining transparent communication and accountability. Ultimately, the Executive Director’s commitment to upholding CC’s values and promoting its mission in the sports community is fundamental to CC’s success and reputation.

Responsibilities and Duties The successful candidate will play an active role in supporting the development of Cheer Canada while ensuring alignment with the organization’s strategic direction, goals, vision, mission, values and financial objectives as set out and approved by the Board of Directors.

Administrative: Oversee day-to-day operations, including but not limited to general correspondence, newsletters and CC’s website in a timely fashion. Oversee document management to ensure efficient organization and accessibility of critical records, supporting transparency and compliance with regulatory requirements standards. Additionally, manage membership databases, ensuring accurate and up-to-date records to facilitate effective communication and engagement with members. Ability to operationalize long-term strategic plans for organizational growth, efficiency and effectiveness. Monitor and evaluate program outcomes for continuous improvement. Responsible for ensuring transparency, integrity, accountability, and responsible resource management.

Financial: Prepare the annual budget and oversee the expenses of the organization in cooperation with the Treasurer, Bookkeeper and Finance committee. Identify and pursue diverse funding sources, including grants, sponsorships, and donations.

Board meetings and relations: Support the board of directors in governance and strategic decision-making. Provide regular updates and recommendations to the board. Collaborate effectively with board members to leverage expertise and networks.

Marketing and Promotions: Utilize digital platforms and tools effectively for awareness, outreach and engagement to build and maintain positive relationships with volunteers, donors, and the community. Create visually appealing graphics and presentations using Canva or similar for promotional materials, reports, and social media content with the relevant subcommittees.

Partnerships: Advocate and maintain relationships for the organization’s interests with government entities, sports associations, sponsors, volunteers and the media. Build and maintain strategic partnerships to enhance organizational impact and visibility.

Leadership: Develop and retain a high-performing team of volunteers, contractors and staff. Create a positive and inclusive work environment that encourages professional growth, teamwork and empowerment to achieve organizational goals. The executive director will be able to contribute recommendations at Board meetings; however, is a non-voting member.

Proactive: Awareness and understanding of industry trends in cheerleading, sport and the nonprofit sector. Ability to provide support and recommendations to the board in alignment with strategic plans.

Qualifications and Required Skills:

Minimum of five years of demonstrated senior administrative experience or experience in sport organization or nonprofit sector.

Bachelor’s degree in business administration, sports management, nonprofit management, or related field is preferred.

Fluency in both official languages is an asset.

Commitment to ethical leadership, transparency, and accountability.

Demonstrated excellence in creating a positive work/volunteer environment and written/verbal communication that encourages growth, innovation and collaboration.

Demonstrated experience overseeing financial planning, budgeting, diversifying funding sources and fiscal management.

Demonstrated excellence in managing day-to-day operations, ensuring efficient program implementation and compliance with legal and regulatory requirements.  

Demonstrated excellence to quickly grasp and effectively utilize new software tools and platforms essential for organizational operations and communication. Primary tools currently being utilized are Google Suite, Quickbooks, Canva, and Sportlomo.

Must be willing to adjust working hours to match meeting times and operational tasks for the board and multiple time zones.

Terms

● This position is remote.

● 40 hours per week. Meetings or other responsibilities may not fall within a typical 9-5 work-week. Evening and weekend work will be required. The Employee may have the flexibility to adjust the start and end times of their workday, provided that the total weekly hours amount to 40.

● Some travel may be required to attend AGMs, conferences and some meetings.

● Starting salary is $65,000 annually, paid bi-weekly.

● 3 weeks of paid vacation per year after 1 year of employment
