There are a number of great virtual learning opportunities for coaches across the country beginning this week.
Starting Nov. 3, the Sport Information Resource Centre (SIRC) is hosting a five-part series on Girls and Women in Sport. The Canadian Sport Centre Manitoba and FIT Women and Girls have arranged speakers to cover the following topics that are so important for cheer coaches: Keeping Girls in Sport, Coaching the Female Athlete, Careers in Sport, Why Girls Participate and Mental Health.
The conference will be run on Zoom, and attending all five sessions can even earn you continuing education credits. The series runs until Nov. 19.
Also this week, you can attend the Petro-Canada Sport Leadership sportif Conference. This annual national event has gone virtual this year and is free for everyone to attend.
Running from Nov. 4-6, this year’s conference theme is Courage by Design. Plan your schedule to include the keynote presentations and breakout sessions. The conference promises delegates will be motivated to consider how intentional acts of courage, inclusivity, and resilience can shape positive change in Canada’s sport community. Led by Dr. Chantale Lussier, PhD, Mental Performance Consultant, this one-hour workshop will explore mental wellness considerations as they apply to you as a high performer at work, rest, and play; and show you how to optimally integrate mental health literacy, mental skills training, and mental performance consulting across our sporting ecosystems.
